Many Commands, One Action

 

You can teach Alexa different ways to say the same thing. So, if you want to play a song but say it in different ways, Alexa will understand and do the one action you want every time.

Steps in the App

Please Note, this feature can only be turned on through the app.

 

  1. Open the Alexa app on your phone or tablet. 

  2. Tap the More button (≡) at the bottom right. 

  3. Tap Routines

  4. Tap the + (plus) icon to add a new routine. 

  5. Tap Enter routine name.  
    1. Example: Song: Dreams Fleetwood Mac. 

  6. Under When this happens, tap Voice

  7. In the box, type the first phrase you might say. 
    1. Example: “Play Dreams.” 

  8. Tap Add another phrase (you can add as many as you want). 
    1. Examples: 
      1. “Dreams Fleetwood Mac.” 
      2. “Fleetwood Mac.” 
      3. “Mac Dreams.” 
      4. "Favourite Song." 

  9. Under Hear Alexa from, choose your device.  

  10. Tap Save.

  • With this feature on, you can say the different commands you have added to the routine. It will do the same action, each time.
